Brintala German Pinschers

About Us

Hello and welcome to Brintala German Pinschers.

I am Karen Wakefield and I am the Principal Kennel Club Affix holder of Brintala registered since 2005. I am registered with the Kennel Club as an Assured Breeder.

I have owned dogs all my life and they live with me as a part of my family.

I show and breed German Pinschers. I am the Secretary of The German Pinscher Club and write the Breed Notes for German Pinschers for “Our Dogs” publication and I am also Liaison Council Representative for the German Pinscher breed for the Kennel Club.

My love for pinschers started when I imported my first German Pinscher, “Sassy” in 2009, a red bitch from the USA from the Legacy Kennel and I owner-handled her in the UK and Europe to become a Luxembourg and Netherlands Champion, the first English owned and handled German Pinscher to achieve this. I later imported a red male from Hickson Kennels” of Sweden, “Milo” in 2012, International Multi Champion Hickson Matrix of Milo at Brintala. Milo was Junior World Winner in 2013, Best of Breed at Crufts in 2015 & 2018, has become a Champion in Italy, Netherlands, Luxembourg and Finland. He has had multiple Best Of Breed wins in the UK and Europe and is the first UK owned and handled German Pinscher to attain an International Champion Title in 2016,. Most importantly though, he is an absolute sweetheart and a joy to live with.

About Brintala

By showing in Europe I have been fortunate enough to be able to forge strong friendships with experienced German Pinscher breeders who have been generous with their advice and expertise. I have imported numerous dogs from abroad and now have a kennel with many lovely dogs and the opportunity to expand the gene pool in the UK and continue to support the breed here in the UK.

I have also owned Dobermans for many years and my hobby of showing began with “Brinley” a beautiful Brown male Doberman who was my heart dog, I also owned his daughter “Talia” the matriarch of our home and the combination and abbreviation of both names formed the Kennel name of “Brintala” that remains today. I still own Dobermans, they started my love of the Pinscher breeds, their beauty, loyalty and devotion is a precious gift to share.

Fundamentally my dogs are family and my ethos is about placing this wonderful breed in the right homes where they can flourish, be loved and to keep this rare breed alive.
